| Security fittings: the extra security
A security fitting not only enables access to the house or flat, it can also represent a hurdle or, in the worst case, even an invitation for burglars. This is because entrance doors with outdated fittings can be opened without much effort. However, potential intruders are just as quick to detect inadequately secured fittings as they are security fittings that specifically protect against simply opening the door and make it more difficult or even impossible to break in. A security fitting can be recognised, among other things, by the fact that the profile cylinder does not protrude several millimetres so that the cylinder cannot be pulled out. In the best case scenario, the cylinder is additionally protected by a cylinder cover. In addition, a security fitting cannot simply be drilled or unscrewed because the screw connection is visible from the inside. This creates several hurdles for the burglar, which will most likely dissuade them from wanting to go ahead with their plan.
Even before any security technology, such as expensive alarm systems or video surveillance, the burglar notices that the door is secured by the hardware. For this reason, the first thing to do is to ensure that doors and windows are mechanically secured with high-quality security fittings.
